poem: think of a color

I speak of color

Reds & primaries burst into mind

soothed by pastels so use less full

and then chartreuse

out of favor and into the mire

but when color I speak

I black don’t feel bright

I’m not dull then

until I let white wash my soul

to blank

Why color allows erasure this way

I wonder
